I am lucky to be part of a few different PLCs on Twitter. One of them introduced me to the #OneWord challenge. Apparently, this has been going on for a few years...I'd never heard of it! Like a resolution, you select one word that will be your focus and/or lead your thoughts and actions for the year. Just what I needed.
It has taken several weeks to find a word that captures what I want. I made a list of many great choices, but finally was able to settle on a word. DRIVEN. To me, this word fits what I need. I will be driven to set and accomplish my goals. I will be driven to do what is best for kids. I will be driven to focus on the needs of the school and to find ways to meets those needs.
Driven is an interesting word and it could be interpreted differently. I like that that word is not lazy and that the word lights a fire. I like that that word creates focus and encompasses passion. I also like that the word is aggressive and doesn't settle for anything less than great.
What will your #OneWord2018 be? How will you focus and challenge yourself?
"Driven" is great. It could be my word. More likely, I'd pick "enthusiastic" or "ambitious" although "ambitious" has a selfish connotation to it.
